Taco John’s, the Mexican quick-service restaurant chain, announced that it has reached a new franchise agreement designed to grow the brand in the Midwest.

Longtime multi-franchisees Kush Patel and Bobby Patel are behind the new agreement, which calls for opening of a Taco John’s location in LaPorte Indiana. The new restaurant is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year with additional locations on the near horizon.

“When adding a new brand to your portfolio, finding the right partner and investment is key,” said Kush Patel. “For us, Taco John’s was the perfect fit, the right concept with the right team to bring a new location to Indiana. We’re excited to grow our portfolio and welcome our community to see what makes Taco John’s so special.”

Prior to this agreement, the franchise duo have successfully managed multiple retail businesses—including Dairy Queen units—across Indiana since 2010, according to Taco John’s. The franchise also said that the pair was impressed by Taco John’s quality offerings and competitive advantage in the QSR market.

The brand has nearly 350 locations across 22 states and said that it has identified strong opportunities in the Upper Midwest, Rocky Mountain regions, and high-growth suburban markets nationwide.

“Kush and Bobby’s experience, dedication, and confidence in the brand make them invaluable additions to the Taco John’s family,” said Shannon Iverson, vice president/development at Taco John’s. “As we continue expanding, it’s passionate franchisees like them to drive our growth and bring bold, delicious flavors to communities nationwide. We’re excited to be a part of their journey as they bring Taco John’s to the community of LaPorte.”

Citing recent economic reports, Taco John’s said that the Midwest is expected to outpace national output growth rate of 4.4%, reaching an estimated $202.1 billion in 2025.

The franchise also notes that Indiana is witnessing expansion within the franchising sector with a 14.7% year-over-year growth rate, which is over 12% higher than the previous year.
