May is National Water Safety Month, and one franchisor is taking the opportunity to show their commitment to safe recreation for kids across the country.
Pool Scouts, a provider of professional pool cleaning and maintenance services, announced this Monday that it is marking 10 years in business with a $10,000 pledge to raise funds for the Hope Floats Foundation this month.
Hope Floats’ mission is to connect children living in poverty with high-quality swim lesson providers. They’re also celebrating a 10-year anniversary in 2026.
“Water safety is something our franchisees see firsthand in the communities they serve, so this partnership is a natural extension of what we do every day,” said Lynlea Rudell, director of marketing for Pool Scouts. “As our system grows and we celebrate our 10th year, we have an opportunity to make an even bigger impact by helping more families access swim lessons and stay safe around the water.”
The spring timing of Pool Scouts’ commitment is critical to connecting as many underserved young people as possible with swimming instruction before the peak of public pool and beach seasons in the summer. According to the CDC, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death among children, but the risk can be reduced as much as 88% by formal swimming lessons.
Pool Scouts has helped support the Hope Floats Foundation since 2021. If the brand hits the $10,000 goal set for this May, they will have raised a total of $106,000 for Hope Floats since the relationship began. Those funds are reinvested in improving education and safety in the same areas where Pool Scouts franchises are located, allowing them to double down on their commitment to serving the community.
“Pool Scouts is a very aligned partnership because they’re working with people who understand the need for water safety,” said Kristin Mabrouk, executive director of Hope Floats. “Then we’re able to allocate those scholarship funds to those same communities that they’re in. The Pool Scouts network keeps expanding and so does ours, so we can help more people everywhere. We’re very grateful for the partnership and excited to be going into our 10th year and beyond.”
