Gordon Ramsay Restaurants are finalizing plans for U.S. franchise expansion.
The brand, named after the famed celebrity chef, has completed franchise disclosure documents, in accordance with U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations. The move enables the business to approach potential franchisees about two of its popular casual dining brands.
The restaurant group currently has 94 owned and licensed restaurants worldwide, and now plans to develop the Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips and Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza brands across the United States.
“We have been operating owned and licensed restaurants in North America for many years, where we currently have 35 restaurants,” said Andy Wenlock, CEO of Gordon Ramsay Restaurants. “Franchising is the next natural step in a market where Gordon has a clear fan base, and both Gordon and I have ambitions to expand the business.”
The food and beverage brand said that “franchising is core to the company’s expansion strategy,” with the United States being a priority market given its scale and established culture for franchising. To date the majority of the group’s restaurants have been directly owned sites or licenced, including a licensing agreement with Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The group said that it plans to kick off its U.S. franchising drive immediately, with a focus on larger cities. Additionally, the firm has targeted at least a dozen new franchise agreements in America over the next five years. The business will work with the franchise development consultant, Catesby, to engage with potential partners.
“We have an established management team and infrastructure in North America to support future growth, and we are now looking for partners who want to deliver a true Gordon Ramsay experience,” Wenlock said. “We are excited to start this process with Catesby having successfully completed our franchise disclosure documents.”
