Batteries Plus previously reported that new franchise agreements helped push growth in the third quarter 2024.

Boston is the home of a new multi-year franchise agreement for Batteries Plus, the omnichannel franchise and retailer of batteries, specialty light bulbs and phone repair services.

Batteries Plus reported that the latest move calls for a total of four new stores in the greater Boston metro market. According to Batteries Plus, the city’s “robust” healthcare and life sciences industries make it an ideal location for the specialty retailer.

“This deal marks an exciting milestone for Batteries Plus as it will bring our trusted products and services to a major hub known for its prestigious hospitals, research institutions and universities,” said Victor Daher, vice president of global franchise development at Batteries Plus. “Expanding into the Northeast, and specifically into the greater Boston area, reflects our commitment to providing essential products and services where they are needed most. We look forward to helping local consumers and businesses with their battery, lighting, and repair needs.”

Power Fortune Inc., a group of regional entrepreneurs “on a mission to empower the Boston community through energy innovation” are behind the new agreement, Batteries Plus said. Terms of this agreement call for an initial store to open in the Boston area in the spring of 2025 with additional outlets planned for Dedham, Quincy/Braintree, and Brockton.

While indicating that new franchises fueled growth at Batteries Plus during the third quarter 2024, the company also announced earlier this month that it had appointed Daher and Brandon Mangual to executive positions

Mangul, vice president of franchise development, said that Batteries Plus currently has five locations in Massachusetts. Overall, the company has more than 700 locations nationally.

“This expansion into such a dynamic and economically vibrant region will allow us to reach a larger customer base and strengthen our presence in the state,” Mangual said.

Batteries Plus was founded in 1988 and is based in Hartland, Wisconsin. The company is owned by Freeman Spogli, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles and New York City.
