Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii said it’s pouring more locations into Florida.
The premium coffee shop franchise disclosed that it has signed a three-store agreement in the Sunshine State. This move includes the opening of a location in Englewood with two additional stores in the works for the greater Port Charlotte market.
In Florida alone, Bad Ass Coffee said it has awarded franchise agreements for 34 locations in various stages of development. The next location is slated to open in Clearwater Beach in late October. The duo of Port Charlotte locations are scheduled to open over the next five years, however.
In a press release, Bad Ass Coffee said, “leadership continues to target various markets” in Florida. This includes Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, and West Palm Beach.
With a total of 7 shops—according to the company’s website—Florida is the state with the most Bad Ass Coffee locations, the company said. Overall, the franchise has more than 30 U.S. locations with over 100 additional shops in various stages of development.
Joe Scharf, who served 40 years in the trucking and mining business, is behind the developments in Florida. According to Bad Ass Coffee, Scharf “was ready for a change.”
“After decades in the trucking and mining industry, I was ready to transition into something new that I could bring to a community I’ve grown to love and now call a second home,” said Scharf. “Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii stood out to me not only for its exceptional product, but also for its strong leadership and solid business model. With a fantastic location for the first store and the full support of the brand, I’m confident that this venture is set up for success.”
Bad Ass Coffee said the franchise model it offers is attracting multi-unit operators looking to expand their portfolio. Franchisees can expect a total investment range between $454,200 – 920,500, according to the company. As International Franchise Association VetFran members, veteran franchisees who join are offered a $10,000 discount off the initial franchise fee.
“We’re always in search of franchisees with a strong track record of building businesses from the ground up, and Joe’s success with that is a tremendous addition to our Bad Ass Coffee ‘ohana,” said Scott Snyder, CEO of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii. “Joe’s passion for our brand is contagious and his knowledge of how to scale a business makes him an ideal partner as we continue our rapid expansion in Florida.
