iGrad Recognition: Ohio Public Employees Deferred Compensation Program Honored with Pension & Investments Eddy Award

The Ohio Public Employees Deferred Compensation Program (Ohio DC) has recently achieved a major milestone in the financial wellness category, taking first place among public plans with more than 5,000 participants at the Eddy Awards, sponsored by Pensions & Investments (P&I). This achievement was made possible through a partnership with iGrad’s Enrich™ platform and Nationwide.

The Eddy Awards are designed to identify and reward best practices in providing investment education to defined contribution plan participants. Ohio DC’s launch of the Enrich financial wellness online platform in 2021 has proven to be a game-changer in this regard. “Improving the financial wellness of our participants is essential to our mission at Ohio DC,” said Ohio DC Executive Director, Christina Elliott. She added, “We launched this platform at the beginning of the pandemic amongst so much economic turmoil, the timing could not have been better.”

The Enrich platform offers several key features, including the Your Money Personality™ financial behavior assessment, which analyzes each user’s financial “personality.” In addition, it provides a Financial Wellness Checkup, interactive financial education courses with personalized action plans, an investment allocation analyzer, a student loan tracker, personal finance calculators, and a real-time budget tool.

The successful entry for the Eddy Awards was a joint effort between Ohio DC, iGrad, and Nationwide. Together, they have been working on an ongoing campaign to engage members in reducing financial stress by improving money-management skills and financial knowledge. Nationwide played a critical role in designing marketing materials and delivering presentations to members.

“Financial wellness has become even more important because of the additional financial stresses caused by the pandemic,” said iGrad founder and President Rob LaBreche. “We are pleased to be recognized alongside Ohio DC with the Eddy Award for our Enrich financial wellness platform, which is proven to reduce financial stress with easy-to-understand, customized, and individualized programs.”

The 2022 award was announced at P&I’s annual East Coast Defined Contribution Conference in Orlando, Fla. on March 15.

Ohio Deferred Compensation is an IRC 457 deferred compensation plan designed to provide a tax-advantaged supplemental retirement plan for state and local government employees. It is governed by a 13-member Board of Trustees and provides retirement savings to over 243,000 active and retired public employees.

iGrad, on the other hand, is a San Diego-based financial technology company that offers artificial intelligence-powered financial wellness solutions to colleges, universities, employers, and financial institutions. This achievement by Ohio DC, iGrad, and Nationwide is a testament to their commitment to improving the financial wellness of their participants. The Eddy Award is a well-deserved recognition of their dedication and innovation in this critical area.
