Seegene Inc., a South Korean molecular PCR diagnostics company, recently announced its strategic partnership with Microsoft for the SG OneSystem Project. The goal of this collaboration is to develop a “world without diseases” and to effectively manage future pandemics. The announcement was made on January 23 in London.
As part of the SG OneSystem Project, Seegene aims to share its quantitative syndromic PCR technologies with leading companies around the world to promote cross-industry innovation in molecular diagnostics. The company envisions forming a global consortium of participating companies that will collectively work towards the goal of a “world without disease.”
To realize this vision, Seegene is working with Microsoft’s global healthcare team to develop the SG OneSystem Project. An annual symposium is planned to bring together potential partners who will be participating in the project. Other important events will also take place in the first half of this year, further supporting the shared vision of a disease-free world.
One of the key technological integrations of this partnership is the Seegene Digitalized Development System (SGDDS). This system will be integrating Microsoft Azure services, including the Azure OpenAI Service. The Secure Azure Trusted Research Environment (TRE) will support privacy and regulatory compliance. Additionally, Microsoft Fabric will serve as a central AI-powered analytics platform for Seegene, integrating data modeling, data monitoring, real-time analytics, and more.
In addition to the development of the SG OneSystem Project, Seegene and Microsoft are also collaborating on healthcare research and innovation. This includes the management and analysis of PCR data, as well as other healthcare-related projects.
Dr. Jong-Yoon Chun, CEO and founder of Seegene, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with Microsoft, highlighting the potential synergies it represents. Elena Bonfiglioli, General Manager of Global Health and Life Sciences at Microsoft, also expressed support for Seegene’s vision of a disease-free world and emphasized the importance of working together to improve the healthcare system.
Seegene is a company with extensive experience in quantitative syndrome PCR technologies and has played a significant role in the fight against COVID-19. The company’s unique PCR technology allows for the simultaneous testing of 14 pathogens and provides quantitative information about infectivity.
The SG OneSystem Project is a global strategy aimed at achieving a “world without diseases.” Seegene aims to shift the effort to develop products that cover all diseases from a single company to a collaborative global network.
As part of this initiative, Seegene launched the “Open Innovation Program powered by Seegene” in September 2023, which enables experts, scientists, and clinical staff to develop quantitative syndrome PCR assays for all application areas.
Overall, the strategic partnership between Seegene and Microsoft represents a significant step towards achieving a “world without diseases.” The collaboration aims to leverage technological innovation and cross-industry cooperation to improve global healthcare and pave the way for a healthier future for all.
