California Coast CU aids local flood victims with emergency housing efforts

California Coast Credit Union and the Logan Heights Community Development Corporation (LHCDC) have joined forces to provide support to families who have been displaced by flooding in San Diego due to recent rains. The credit union is contributing $7,500 to LHCDC to assist families who have been moved into temporary housing under the Emergency Assistance Program. This funding will help address the immediate needs of these families, such as food, kitchen supplies, clothing, and other essential items.

Monte Jones, CEO of LHCDC, expressed gratitude for the partnership with California Coast Credit Union, emphasizing the importance of their collaboration in helping the community thrive. He shared that the funds from the credit union will be used to address the immediate and pressing needs of families who have been impacted by the recent floods. Todd Lane, Cal Coast President & CEO, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our hearts go out to the families who have been impacted by the recent floods. In times of crisis, the strength of a community is enhanced through collaborative efforts between businesses and other community agencies.”

This initiative underscores the commitment of California Coast Credit Union to improving the lives of its members and the broader community. Established in 1929 by San Diego teachers, the credit union serves over 200,000 members through its network of 26 branches and 60 shared branch locations, along with 30,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide. As a not-for-profit institution, California Coast provides valuable financial education for adults and youth and is dedicated to enhancing the resilience and support within the community, especially during difficult times. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in San Diego or Riverside counties.

In light of the recent flooding, individuals in need of temporary housing are encouraged to reach out to the City of San Diego Housing Commission. California Coast Credit Union and LHCDC’s partnership exemplifies the power of collaboration between businesses and community organizations in times of crisis, underscoring the importance of coming together to support those in need.
