The academy’s first graduating class, set to complete their program in the spring of 2022, consists of young women from East Africa who have received professional training in bookkeeping. Successful completion of the program promises these graduates gainful work opportunities, fostering independence and financial freedom within the workforce. AJOY, the firm behind The Phindiwe Business Academy, has been dedicated to improving the profitability of micro and small business enterprises, especially those led by women, since its establishment in 2009.
Tuesday P. Brooks, the lead instructor of The Phindiwe Business Academy and founder of AJOY, brings 25 years of education experience and expertise to the program. Her background includes a Master’s Degree in Education, ProAdvisor certification in QuickBooks Online (QBO), and the status of a trainer with national organizations and Intuit, the makers of QBO. This ensures that the program is designed to develop confidence and competency within its students, providing a solid foundation for their future careers.
By forming strategic partnerships, the team at AJOY has also ensured that each graduate of the program will have the support they need to succeed and grow as entrepreneurs. Current partners include Tamara Horton with Studio Samuel Foundation and Kenyan athlete, Grace Kahura.
