Seeking a new economics writer

Are you a talented writer with a passion for economics and a knack for storytelling? The Economist is currently seeking a new writer to join our team. While journalistic experience is not required, a clear writing style and a solid understanding of economics are essential. If you have a particular interest in the economics of innovation and technology, that’s a plus, but it’s not a requirement.

The ideal candidate will be able to produce original and engaging journalism that can make the cover of The Economist. They should also be comfortable working with data and contributing to our “Free exchange” column. In addition to writing articles, the writer will be expected to appear on podcasts and films.

To apply, please send a CV and a sample article (maximum 700 words) to [email protected] The article should be unpublished and showcase your writing style and economic knowledge. The deadline for submissions is May 14th.

Some examples of relevant topics for your sample article include: the impact of artificial intelligence on the job market, the potential consequences of super-AI, how to overcome scientific stagnation, the debate over the size of big businesses, and the innovation race between China and the West.
