According to Pet Butler, Vennen was inspired by her father—a franchise broker—to open the new location.

“Being a vet tech has allowed me to understand pets on a deeper level—both medically and behaviorally,” Vennen said. “I’m excited to bring this expertise to Pet Butler and share it with my team and clients.”

A grand opening took place this month and Vennen said she looks forward to building relationships with pet owners and becoming a trusted partner in pet care within the Aurora market.

Although her father introduced her to the world of franchising, Vennen noted that she always had business aspirations of her own.

“I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit but wasn’t sure how to make it work,” Vennen said. “Pet Butler’s back-office support, marketing assistance, and business planning gave me the confidence I needed to start my own business.”

Earlier this month, Pet Butler announced that Steven Chmielewski had taken ownership of the Pet Butler franchise in Tacoma, Washington which also serves customers in Federal Way.

Pet Butler said it has 39 owners in 28 states. The company was founded in Columbus, Ohio in 1988 and began franchising in 2005. Spring Green Enterprises (SGE) acquired Pet Butler in 2017 and relocated the business to Plainfield, Illinois.
