BODYBAR Pilates to celebrate PLANKstock festival this weekend

This Saturday, May 2, is National Pilates Day, and one leading Pilates franchise is marking the occasion with a far-out 1970s themed party.

Earlier this week, BODYBAR Pilates announced the return of its PLANKstock festival, which will take place across their network of more than 70 U.S. studios this weekend. Each PLANKstock celebration will have its own unique local flavor with music, complimentary mat classes, food and drink, and a positive, feel-good party environment.

“PLANKstock is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Kamille McCollum, chief brand officer, president and co-founder of BODYBAR Pilates. “It’s such a fun way to bring our community together and celebrate the energy that makes BODYBAR special. We love creating an experience that feels welcoming, a little unexpected and shows just how strong and empowered you can feel through Pilates.”

BODYBAR members are encouraged to join their local studio’s celebration in 1970s-inspired outfits, and each event will feature groovy pop-up experiences, from tie-dye stations to hippie flower crown workshops. Since it’s National Pilates Day and the event is called PLANKstock, there will also be competitions to see who can hold the longest plank.

The goal of PLANKstock is to bring the community together for a fun celebration that raises awareness about Pilates while creating a forum for individuals and community businesses to show off their collective strength. The event reflects BODYBAR Pilates’ commitment to fostering balanced, athletic, and real communities around their studios.

BODYBAR Pilates was founded in Dallas, Texas by Laurie Gatlin in 2012. Current president Kamille McCollum took a class at that first studio and fell in love with the BODYBAR approach Gatlin had developed, which stressed high-quality workouts and great customer service. Kamille and her husband, current CEO Matt McCollum, partnered with Gatlin as franchisees in 2015 and ultimately developed the expansion strategy that would grow the brand beyond the Dallas-Fort Worth area and into a national name.

Just over a decade later, BODYBAR Pilates studios will celebrate PLANKstock in more than 25 states.
