The pet boarding franchise looks to open its first location near a major airport.

Evidence that the pet franchise industry continues to thrive is the growth plan at K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel.
The franchise said it has signed an agreement that will result in 11 locations within Los Angeles County. The first of the locations is a resort that will be situated about 10 minutes away from the LAX Airport. This also marks K9 Resort’s first location near an airport.
“We were all impressed with the brand and model that K9 has established – from the designs of the locations to franchisee support, their team’s high-end attention to detail shines through in every element of the business,” said Lia Moncholi, chief operating officer of Luxury Pet Hotel Investments, LLC (LPHI).
LPHI is a group of franchisees—formerly known as Partners Pacific Resorts, LLC—who invested $10 million into the brand earlier this year.
“This opportunity particularly resonated with me because of my background in customer service, and K9 is providing the ultimate care and service to every dog and dog parent that walks through their doors,” Moncholi added.
Zack Nisbet, a regional operator at LPHI, is slated to oversee the operations at all the Los Angeles area resorts, as well as eight locations planned for the Chicago market. According to Nisbet, “no brand is doing what K9 Resorts is, and doing it so well.”
Other plans LPHI has for the franchise include another 11 locations in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
In total, 30 locations are in the works with LHPI being the largest investor in the business plan. LHPI said that it has raised $30 million aimed at opening the new pet care locations.
Overall, K9 Resorts said that it has more than 170 resorts across 28 states currently operating or in various stages of development. The first Los Angeles location is expected to provide pet parents with an ideal solution for boarding their pets during travel.
A report issued by Allied Market Research in 2022 indicates that the pet boarding industry could grow into a $35.8 billion industry by 2031.
“There is a great demand for high-quality pet care as more people are bringing pets into their homes,” said Jason Parker, co-founder and CEO of K9 Resorts Franchising, LLC. “The growth we’ve experienced this year is a testament to our brand – and that franchisees believe in it just as much as we do. It also speaks volumes when a franchisee continues to scale with our brand, and we look forward to seeing Lia, Zack and their team continue to build success.”
