“Yantai-Bordeaux Wine Gift Box Launch Event in Paris” Celebrating China-France 60th Anniversary

In a celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, the “When Yantai Meets Bordeaux” wine gift set launch event took place in Paris on May 3. Organized by the Xinhua News Agency News Bureau and the Yantai Municipal People’s Government Information Office, the event brought together sixty guests from both countries to enjoy a tasting experience featuring typical wines from China and France.

Fabrice Sommier, president of the French Sommelier Union, delivered a speech at the event, emphasizing the significance of the longstanding friendship between the two countries. Wang Lei, director of the Xinhua News Agency News Bureau, also spoke about the deep connection between Yantai and French red wine, dating back to the establishment of China’s first wine company, Changyu, more than a century ago.

The launch event featured prominent figures such as Guillaume Roussy and Pascal Durand, who expressed admiration for Sino-French cooperation and the quality of wines produced in both regions. A commemorative red wine gift box, named “60 years of Sino-French friendship, 60 pairs,” was officially introduced during the event. Prepared by Fabrice Sommier, the gift box contains a selection of renowned red wines from Yantai and Bordeaux, including a 2018 Château Phélan Ségur red from France and a Yantai Changyu Longyu Cabernet Sauvignon from China.

Gong Haitao, deputy executive director of the Publicity Department of the Yantai Municipal Committee of the CPC, highlighted the historical and cultural significance of Yantai’s red wine industry, presenting it as a representation of the city’s charm and connection to the global wine scene. The red wine gift box, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, will be available for sale in China, with proceeds supporting environmental organization EcoTree’s green and low-carbon initiatives worldwide.

Overall, the “When Yantai Meets Bordeaux” wine gift set launch event was a successful celebration of cultural exchange and friendship between China and France, showcasing the rich history and quality wines of both regions. By bringing together industry leaders and experts, the event highlighted the mutual respect and admiration shared between the two countries, encouraging further collaboration in the future.
