The 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is celebrating Women’s History Month with a variety of events throughout March. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Women Breaking Barriers, Building the Future,” in honor of the contributions and service of military and civilian women. Events include a Women’s Health Panel, a book club discussion focused on the accomplishments of Odette Sansom, guided tours of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, and a monthlong scavenger hunt.
The Women’s Health Panel, featuring speakers from the 88th Medical Group, will take place on March 8 at the Wright-Patterson Medical Center Auditorium. The book club discussion, centered around the book “Code Name: Lise: The True Story of the Woman Who Became WWII’s Most Highly Decorated Spy,” by Larry Loftis, will be held on March 29 in the USO Auditorium. Additionally, guided tours of the Women in the Air Force exhibit at the museum will be offered to base employees and the public throughout the month of March, with no registration required.
These events aim to bring awareness to the accomplishments of women in military and civil service and highlight the value that diversity brings to U.S. forces. The Women’s History Month Committee hopes that these events will inspire others to contribute to building a brighter future. For more information about the events or to get involved, contact Staff Sgt. Vivian Thompson or Senior Airman Christley Mae Miranda.
