Wireless Power Consortium Appoints Four New Board Members

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) recently announced the results of its Board of Directors election, welcoming four new members and re-electing two existing members to leadership positions. The newly elected members include Michael Wang of NuVolta Technologies, Lauri Söderbacka of Huawei, Kyungwoo Lee of Samsung Electronics, and Xun (Ken) Liu of ConvenientPower.

Michael Wang, CEO and Chairman of NuVolta Technologies, has a background in wireless charging dating back to his early career at Texas Instruments. Lauri Söderbacka, currently with Huawei UK, has extensive experience in product management and development in the mobile device industry. Kyungwoo Lee, with over 150 published patents worldwide, has been involved in research and design for wireless charging technologies at Samsung Electronics. Lastly, Xun (Ken) Liu, Chief Technologist of Wireless Power at ConvenientPower, has led the innovation and standardization of wireless power technology since joining the company in 2007.

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is a leading standards organization for wireless power applications globally, with over 300 member companies. The WPC’s Qi standard is the global standard for wireless charging mobile and handheld electronic devices, ensuring products are safe, efficient, and interoperable. Recently, the WPC announced the Ki standard for cordless kitchen appliances, expanding the applications of wireless power technology.

The WPC Board of Directors includes representatives from top manufacturers such as Apple, Google, Huawei, Samsung, and Philips, ensuring a diverse range of expertise and perspectives in guiding the organization’s vision for wireless power innovation.
