Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) has announced the launch of the CMC Pilot Program, a tuition-free initiative aimed at enhancing digital literacy and inclusion for students and communities. With support from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), the program focuses on three key components: broadband capacity building, increased broadband access, and digital skills training.
In response to the growing demand for digital skills in the tech industry, WCCCD is offering a range of tech courses to equip students with the necessary skills to compete for in-demand jobs. The courses cover a variety of fields, including digital literacy, Google Data Analytics, UX/UI Design, Cyber Security, CompTIA Security+, and Mechatronics with a specialization in Fanuc 01 Certified Robotics Technology.
These courses are taught by industry professionals and follow a fast-tracked curriculum for rapid certification and skill acquisition. Both virtual and in-person options are available to accommodate residents’ needs. WCCCD is also providing over 200 loaner laptops with Verizon internet connectivity to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis.
