Travis Scott showcased his explosive performance at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles after failing to win the Grammy award for best rap album. The smoky set became Scott’s Utopia as he first performed “My Eyes” and “I Know” with composure and then unleashed his aggression with the earth-shattering album standout “Fe!n,” throwing chairs and anything within his reach while fire shot through the stage. A masked Playboi Carti also joined him on stage for the performance.
Earlier in the night, Scott’s Utopia was in contention for best rap album, but Killer Mike’s Michael took home the night’s honor, leaving Scott confused and frustrated. This is not the first time Scott has faced disappointment at the Grammys, as he was visibly upset when his album Astroworld lost to Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy in 2018.
Despite the Grammy disappointment, Scott’s Utopia enjoyed a successful year in 2023, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 496,000 album-equivalent units. The album featured collaborations with top artists such as Drake, Beyonce, The Weeknd, and more.
With his explosive performance and chart-topping success, Travis Scott continues to solidify his position as a force to be reckoned with in the rap industry. Despite setbacks, his talent and dedication to his craft cannot be denied.
