One of the most iconic tour experience brands has a new owner, and it feels like a natural fit.
TourScale, a platform franchisor specializing in tour and activity brands, announced Wednesday their acquisition of Pedal Pub. Pedal Pub is one of the most recognizable names in the experiential tourism space and has a 19-year history of providing uniquely social tours through North America’s destination cities.
“I’ve admired Pedal Pub since we entered this space 15 years ago. Their iconic Bike with the Barrel is known worldwide, and we can’t wait to bring TourScale’s platform to the system,” said TourScale Co-CEO Kai Kaapro.
With this announcement, TourScale adds one of the definitive vacation experiences to their portfolio of tour and activity franchises, which already includes Crusin’ Tikis, Trolley Pub, Paddle Pub, and Tiki Pub. In total, they now operate a network of 107 active franchises across the U.S. and Canada.
As the names of their franchises suggest, Pedal Pub is already closely aligned with a business model the TourScale team knows well. All five brands provide a touring bar experience where groups can see the sights, celebrate, and drink responsibly.
TourScale emphasized in their announcement that they are excited to collaborate with the Pedal Pub team and feel this will be a smooth transition for existing Pedal Pub franchisees and licensees. Former Pedal Pub VP of Operations Jake Halbert is joining TourScale as President of Pedal Pub to help maximize continuity.

Moving forward, Pedal Pub franchisees and licensees will be able to leverage TourScale’s robust platform to gain access to marketing resources, operational support, a centralized franchisee portal, and a peer-to-peer community of TourScale brand operators. That means this acquisition is providing Pedal Pub operators with an enhanced support system and growth-minded problem-solving network just as the summer tourism season approaches.
