The decision to launch Sun Day Red follows the end of Woods’ 27-year partnership with Nike, which began when he turned pro in 1996. Nike ceased its equipment business in 2016, leading Woods to previously secure deals with TaylorMade for clubs and with Bridgestone for golf balls. Now, however, he has committed to an apparel and footwear line with TaylorMade under the Sun Day Red brand.
The new logo for Sun Day Red features a tiger stretched across the three words, incorporating Woods’ 15 major championships. Woods has also stated that he would update the logo if he were to win another major tournament, demonstrating the brand’s flexibility and adaptation to future accomplishments.
In a recent press event, Woods expressed his excitement about this new venture, stating, “It’s the right time in my life. It’s transitional. I’m no longer a kid anymore.” Sun Day Red is set to launch its first apparel line for men in the United States and Canada on May 1, with plans to expand into other markets and eventually offer additional lines for women and kids.
The brand’s development has been carefully managed, with former leaders from the fashion and culture industries joining the brand’s new team. Brad Blankinship, who previously led lines such as Quiksilver and RVCA, has been appointed as the president of Sun Day Red.
