Tiger Woods, the 48-year-old pro golfer, was carted off the course during the Genesis Invitational golf tournament due to symptoms of influenza. According to the PGA Tour, emergency personnel arrived at the Riviera Country Club course, and after being taken to the locker room, Woods was treated for “potential dehydration and dizziness related to his illness” with an IV bag.
After originally indicating back spasms, Woods confirmed in a tweet that he had to withdraw from the tournament due to flu diagnosis. Despite being disappointed to miss the event, he assured his supporters that he is resting and feeling better.
Woods’ manager confirmed that he experienced “flu-like symptoms” during the second round of the tournament. This tournament had been Woods’ first official PGA tour appearance since he withdrew from the 2023 Masters last April due to plantar fasciitis and had surgery for post-traumatic arthritis related to a previous injury from his 2021 car accident.
In December 2023, Woods returned to competition and placed 18th at the Hero World Challenge, and later joined forces with his son to compete at the PNC Championship. Since 2019, Woods has played in nine official golf events, missing the cut twice and withdrawing three times.
In February 2021, Woods was in a rollover one-car crash near Rancho Palos Verdes, California, which caused multiple open fractures in his tibia and fibula bones and more injuries to his foot and ankle.
We wish Tiger Woods a speedy recovery and hope to see him back to full health and competing in the sport he loves soon. Get well soon, Tiger!
