Chapwood Investments Reveals Consumer Price Index Reality
Plano, TX, July 21, 2022 — Chapwood Investments has announced its startling findings on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), shedding light on the true cost of living increase that Americans face. The results of Ed Butowsky’s Chapwood Index indicate a significant discrepancy between the government-reported inflation rate and the actual cost-of-living increase experienced by citizens.
According to Ed Butowsky, “The numbers released each month from the Bureau of Labor Statistics do not reflect the true cost of living increase felt by Americans. Our Chapwood Index has proven that the inflation rate is nearly double that described by the US government.” The discrepancies have serious implications for Social Security recipients, federal employees, and many private sector workers, causing their standard of living to decline each year.
The Chapwood Index, created by Dallas financial advisor Ed Butowsky, offers an alternative and more accurate measure of inflation compared to the CPI. The index was developed in response to Washington’s changes to the CPI in 1983, which led to a drastic underestimation of the true inflation rate. As a result, the federal government has been able to save billions of dollars, while citizens’ benefits have failed to keep up with their true cost of living hikes.
Butowsky has called for the federal government to make the CPI more accurate by using the methodology of the Chapwood Index. The index measures the increase in prices based on a survey of consumers in the 50 largest cities in the U.S. According to the most recent findings, the actual U.S. inflation rate for the 12 months ending in May was 15.4%, nearly double the 8.6% inflation rate derived from the CPI for the same period.
In light of these findings, it is crucial for policy and decision makers to reassess the way inflation is measured in order to address the discrepancy between true cost-of-living increases and the CPI. By creating a new CPI that utilizes the methodology of the Chapwood Index, the federal government can help millions of Americans keep up with actual inflation for the first time in decades, improving their standard of living.
