The Tech Interactive in San Jose, California, hosted the National AI Literacy Day Summit with over 1,100 students diving into the exploration of artificial intelligence. This groundbreaking collaboration brought together educators, industry experts, government officials, and community advocates to celebrate and empower participants with a deeper understanding of AI.
The summit, held in association with aiEDU, AI for EducationEdSafe AI Alliance (InnovateEDU), and Common Sense Media, featured discussions on preparing students for an AI-driven world and the indispensable role of community partnerships in advancing AI literacy. Notable speakers included leaders from Google for Education, IBM, Microsoft, and Adobe, emphasizing the collaborative effort needed to empower children to actively participate in the AI ecosystem.
The Tech Interactive launched new AI resources for grades 4-12, including lesson plans, discussion guides, and immersive exhibits highlighting the use of AI through voice recognition, visualization, robotics, and interactive image generation. Visitors can test their knowledge with a new TikTok filter challenging users to discern between AI-generated and non-AI-generated images.
In addition to The Tech’s resources, national organizations like Common Sense, Stanford Accelerator for Learning, and Stanford Graduate School of Education released free resources for educators to promote AI literacy. These resources include lesson plans, webinar series, explainer videos, and professional development sessions aimed at encouraging critical thinking about AI.
