Subway, the global food and beverage brand, has named a new chief executive officer.
Effective July 28, Jonathan Fitzpatrick joins the sandwich maker as CEO following a comprehensive executive search conducted by the company. Subway operates than 19,000 U.S. locations.
The company said that interim CEO Carrie Walsh will work with Fitzpatrick during the transition period. Walsh was named interim CEO last November with former CEO John Chidsey retiring at the end of 2024.
Fitzpatrick most recently served as president and CEO of Driven Brands, which maintains one of the largest automotive services portfolios in the nation. Driven Brands includes Meineke, Maaco, Take 5 Oil Change, Auto Glass Now, and Carstar.
Prior to Driven Brands, Fitzpatrick held senior leadership positions at Burger King, including serving as executive vice president and chief brand and operations officer.
“I’m honored to lead this iconic brand that has been serving guests around the world for 60 years,” Fitzpatrick said in a statement issued by Subway. “Subway has a solid foundation built on decades of providing freshly made, better-for-you options with value and convenience. I’m excited by the opportunity to shape the future of the company, working alongside our valued franchisees and employees to help drive increased sales and franchisee profitability and grow our brand around the world.”
