Student-Athletes vying for NIL Deal with Jayson Tatum’s Small Wins Candy Co.

In a groundbreaking move that merged the worlds of candy and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities, Small Wins, the beloved candy company owned by basketball superstar Jayson Tatum, launched a pioneering program for Division I Student-Athletes earlier this year. The program, facilitated by leading industry experts, provided crucial insights and strategies on branding, marketing, social media management, financial literacy, tax planning, and networking techniques to equip young athletes for success in the evolving NIL landscape.

The program culminated in a unique opportunity for student-athletes to partner with Small Wins in a marketing campaign, putting their newfound knowledge into practice. Through practical exercises and guidance on contract review and content creation, the participants were able to showcase their skills in a competitive environment. The results were astounding, with the 14 participants collectively reaching over 320,000 views, 280,000 accounts, 2,000 comments, and a total watch time of over 124 hours.

The success of the partnership not only benefited Small Wins, increasing engagement, followers, and sales, but also opened up new opportunities for the student-athletes involved. With over 71% of viewers being non-followers, the campaign helped the student-athletes expand their reach and gain exposure to potential NIL opportunities outside of the program.

Small Wins candies, known for their plant-based, all-natural, gluten-free, allergy-friendly, vegan, and Non-GMO ingredients, are designed for both kids and adults who value better-for-you treats. With unique designs and characters, Small Wins prioritizes providing quality treats for the whole family.

NIL U, powered by Pivotal Performance, is committed to providing college athletes with the tools they need to navigate the NIL landscape successfully. Through strategic partnerships and experienced teams, NIL U helps student-athletes develop their personal brand, financial planning, entrepreneurship skills, and business development. Additionally, NIL U assists established businesses and emerging startups in leveraging the power of NIL to maximize their brand value and reach a wider audience.
