Stratolaunch Successfully Tests TA-1 Aircraft
The Stratolaunch team celebrated a major milestone today with the successful test of the TA-1 aircraft. Dr. Zachary Krevor, CEO of Stratolaunch, commended the team for their technical expertise and professionalism in achieving this achievement. Although specific details regarding altitude and speed cannot be disclosed due to customer agreements, the flight surpassed expectations by reaching high supersonic speeds approaching Mach 5.
The primary objective of the test was to reduce risks for the upcoming TA-2 flight while delivering maximum value to customers. The data collected from today’s test will be instrumental in planning for TA-2’s first flight later this year. In parallel to TA-1 testing, Stratolaunch is making progress on the manufacturing of TA-3, the next reusable vehicle in the Talon-A product line. Additionally, modifications are being made to the Spirit of Mojave, another launch platform based on a modified Boeing 747-400.
In light of this success, a virtual press conference will be held on March 9 at 2:30 p.m. PST to discuss the initial results of the flight and address questions from the press. Media outlets interested in participating can join the conference via Zoom.
