Seiko Group Corporation recently launched “THE GIFT OF TIME” project on July 18, which aims to showcase the unique culture of Japan through the lens of time and highlight the essence of Japanese luxury to a global audience. The company collaborated with leading Japanese artists to create a special video that explores the concept of time and its connection to Japanese culture.
The project features top talents such as contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, composer and Commissioner of Agency for Cultural Affairs Shunichi Tokura, architect Kengo Kuma, and singer MISIA. These creators share their perspectives on time and how it influences their work and philosophies. The movie is set for release in October and will be screened worldwide to introduce viewers to Seiko’s luxury brands like Grand Seiko and Credor, as well as to promote the richness of Japanese culture.
To symbolize the project, Seiko renovated and reopened the basement floor of the Wako Flagship Store in Tokyo’s Ginza district on July 20. The space, designed by the New Material Research Laboratory led by Hiroshi Sugimoto and Tomoyuki Sakakida, features a unique concept called “Stage and Corridor” inspired by the hands of a clock. It serves as a platform to showcase products and experiences rooted in the history and traditions of Wako, emphasizing the cultural richness of Japan.
Through collaborations with top creators and the renovation of the Wako Flagship Store, Seiko aims to highlight the concept of Japanese luxury and share the beauty of Japanese culture with the world.
