Scenthound names new board of directors

The pet industry is expected to reach $277 billion by 2030, and one brand has put together a new pack of leaders in hopes of taking a big bite of that market.

Scenthound, the U.S.’s original dog wellness franchise, announced the formation of a new board of directors this Tuesday. The five-member board will provide the brand with a wealth of leadership experience in the franchising, pet care, and consumer services industries.

Christina Russell brings 20 years of experience leading high-growth brands to the Scenthound boardroom. In the past, she’s served on the board of the International Franchise Association and been President of Camp Bow Wow, among other roles.

Asked about the opportunity to join the board, Russell said, “Scenthound is a leader in pet wellness and the Vogels have built a distinct concept with tremendous long-term growth potential. The brand’s focus on routine hygiene for dogs, combined with its technology-driven approach, positions the company for continued success in a rapidly growing pet care market. I’m excited to work with the team to support franchise expansion and help grow the company.”

Clay Perfall joins the board to provide a wealth of financial and operational expertise. He has decades of experience in corporate governance, strategic growth initiatives, and supporting private equity-sponsored businesses.

David Long is an experienced entrepreneur with a proven track record in the franchise wellness space. In addition to his new role at Scenthound, Davis is the co-founder of OrangeTheory Fitness, which has launched over 1,300 studios since 2010.

David Murvin also joins the board as one of the most experienced voices in the pet health and wellness space. He co-founded both the PetWell Partners veterinary platform and Roo, Inc., a leading veterinary staffing solution. Murvin also helped launch Independent Pet Holdings, North America’s largest pet insurance provider.

McConnell Smith rounds out the new board as a representative of VMG Partners, a private growth equity firm that announced a significant investment in Scenthound back in October of 2025. Smith currently serves on the boards of a variety of companies in the fitness, wellness, and consumer services spaces.

“As Scenthound enters its next phase of growth, we now have a board made up of experienced leaders who bring valuable perspective to the business,” said Scenthound board member David Long. “With this team in place, the brand is well positioned to continue growing while staying focused on delivering a consistent, high-quality experience for members, franchisees, and team members.”
