Sainz finished just 0.030s ahead of Lando Norris, followed by Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. The session got off to a slow start, with Lewis Hamilton setting the initial time. As the session progressed, Norris, Russell, and the Ferrari drivers all took turns at the top spot.
In the midst of qualifying simulations, Norris put in a strong lap to take the lead, with Sainz, Leclerc, and Verstappen following closely behind. An incident between Lance Stroll and Hamilton caught the attention of stewards for investigation. Sainz ultimately set the fastest time of the session, with Norris in second, Leclerc in third, and Verstappen in fourth.
