Pratt & Whitney: Singapore Technology Accelerator in full operation

In a significant leap forward for the advancing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) industry, Pratt & Whitney, a business under the RTX brand, has accomplished a significant milestone by unveiling the operations of its Singapore Technology Accelerator (STA).

The goal of the STA facility is the enhancement of MRO performance through over 30 innovative solutions specially designed to expedite MRO processes. Unveiling of the new system was done via a joint initiative between Pratt & Whitney and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), marking an ambitious collaboration aimed at driving innovation within the MRO sector, and providing newer, and advanced technologies on a global scale.

These technologies have been applied across four Pratt & Whitney facilities in Singapore and those are designed to focus on automation, advanced inspection, connected factory, and digital twin systems aimed at optimizing MRO shop performance.

What is more, STA has been purposefully designed to establish a central point for combining innovative thinking and applied technology. Every aspect of the facility has been meticulously put together with the customer experience in mind, ensuring that the new technologies will scale across the MRO facilities with heightened speed and efficiency.

Singapore Technology Accelerator builds on the innovative thinking and hard work put in by employees of Pratt & Whitney. STA is seen as a key driver for expanding the capabilities of MRO facilities and centers of excellence in Singapore and globally. By doing so, it has led to the development and detection of other advanced new technologies, most notably within the artificial intelligence and machine learning domains.

The innovative expertise developed at the STA facility has been validated at Pratt & Whitney’s local facilities in Singapore. These processes have been initiated to gradually integrate across their global portfolio of MRO locations so as to maximize benefits for all customers, equally. This marks a profound commitment by Pratt & Whitney to their MRO operations and an endeavor to arm customers with essential insights into performance, quality, production capacity, and efficiency.

For those curious about Pratt & Whitney, it is a leader in the design, production, and maintenance of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units, while RTX happens to be the largest aerospace and defense company in the world. Both part of the same mission, to push the boundaries of technology and global protection through a multitude of verticals, there is a strong index of three leading businesses under the Raytheon flag, which are all working towards the same cohesive goal of pioneering and advancing technology in their respective fields.
