A recent development agreement calls for 10 locations in Washington and Idaho.
Sandwich shop franchise Port of Subs has plans to expand its presence in the Pacific Northwest.
Specializing in made-to-order subs, the brand reports that regional developer Ben Pearson has opened his first Port of Subs location in Spokane, Washington. The move is part of a 10-unit developmental deal across eastern Washington and northern Idaho.

Additionally, Port of Subs said that it is growing the brand with a new location in Seattle at the Seattle Tacoma International Airport along with more locations set to open throughout the city. The airport shop is set to open this spring.
“Port of Subs and its focus on quality and consistency strongly align with my values as a business leader,” said Pearson. “I look forward to bringing the neighborhood sandwich shop experience to the Inland Northwest by building strong community connections and providing excellent customer service to communities across Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.”
The developer is a longtime resident of Kennewick and an eastern Washington native. Pearson served eight years in the U.S. Navy aboard nuclear submarines and 15 years with Grant PUD (Grant County Public Utility District).
According to Port of Subs, Pearson’s initial Spokane location is surpassing new store performance records. Up next are openings in the Tri-Cities region (Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland) Coeur d’Alene, Walla Walla, and Ritzville.
The Seattle airport shop is led by U.S. military veteran and restaurant operator Rod O’Neil, along with his longtime partner Jerry Whitsett. The duo served together in the U.S. Army with Whitsett already operating at Port of Subs location at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
“With a new 10-unit development deal in Washington, a record-breaking start in Spokane, and our first SeaTac Airport location on the way, this is a pivotal moment for our growth in the Pacific Northwest,” said Healey Mendicino, president and CEO of Port of Subs. “After more than 20 years in the region, expanding more deeply into Seattle and across Washington is a natural next step, and an opportunity to bring even more neighborhood locations to the guests who’ve supported us for decades. Like Port of Subs®, Seattle’s food culture has always embraced freshness and craftsmanship, so we are eager to find likeminded partners to help bring this experience to more communities throughout the city.”
Port of Subs said its flexible footprint allows for franchisees to operate in spaces such as plazas and footcourts in addition to freestanding restaurants. Altogether, the brand operates more than 120 locations in the United States.
