Paramount exec hints at more ‘Blue Bloods’ expansion

Paramount Global is gearing up to expand its intellectual properties with potential new projects for popular shows like Blue Bloods. Co-CEO Brian Robbins highlighted the show as one of the valuable assets that will see future franchise extensions. This news comes as a surprise to fans, considering CBS previously announced the end of the series after its upcoming 14th season.

Despite CBS’s decision to conclude the show, many cast members, including Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, have expressed their desire to continue working on Blue Bloods. Selleck, in particular, emphasized the show’s success and strong ratings, hoping that CBS will reconsider their choice to end the series.

Blue Bloods follows the Reagan family, a law enforcement dynasty in New York, led by police commissioner Frank Reagan, portrayed by Selleck. The show’s ensemble cast includes Wahlberg, Moynahan, Estes, and Terraciano, who have all contributed to the show’s success over the years.

While details about the potential Blue Bloods extension remain scarce, speculations suggest that Paramount and CBS may explore a prequel series focusing on a young Frank or his father, Henry, played by Len Cariou. Given the success of other spinoffs like Young Sheldon and NCIS: Origins, a Blue Bloods prequel could provide fans with a deeper insight into the Reagan family’s history and legacy.

With Paramount emphasizing the importance of building billion-dollar brands through franchise extensions, the future looks promising for Blue Bloods fans who are eager to see more of their favorite characters in action.
