In six games, he has recorded just 10 catches for 145 yards without any touchdowns. His struggles were notably highlighted in a recent game against the Buffalo Bills, where he slipped on a crucial route leading to an interception on what was intended to be Aaron Rodgers’ final pass of the game.
These challenges stand in stark contrast to Williams’ prior achievements. During his tenure with the Los Angeles Chargers, he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in two separate seasons. Known for his deep-threat capability, Williams led the NFL in 2019 with an impressive average of 20.4 yards per reception and had a personal best of 10 touchdown receptions in 2018. However, since suffering a torn ACL last season, his performance has diminished, making it difficult for him to regain his pre-injury form.
With the addition of Adams as the new primary target for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, opportunities for Williams have become increasingly limited. The Jets also feature strong receiving options in Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, as well as dynamic running back talents such as Breece Hall. This surplus of talent means that Williams might struggle to find consistent targets moving forward.
