National Coalition Launches Phase II of Unity 2024 GOTV Tour

The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP) has embarked on an important initiative in partnership with APRI, NAN, South Carolina Black Women’s Roundtable, and #WinWithBlackWomen. With the goal of encouraging engagement and early voting, the organization launched Phase II of its Unity 2024 “Power of the Ballot” National Campaign through a 3-day, 5-city “get out the vote” (GOTV) Bus Tour across South Carolina. The Black electorate was encouraged to participate in the South Carolina primaries held on February 3, 2024, as well as the primary scheduled for February 24th.

The Power of the Ballot Tour made stops in urban and rural communities in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Johnsonville, and Santee. The message of empowerment and civic participation was amplified under the theme “WE WILL NOT BE ERASED.” The tour stops were hosted by prominent figures such as Benedict College President, Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, Mayor Teresa Myers Ervin in Florence, Celebrity Chef Rodney Scott, and Rev. Nelson Rivers III, among others.

The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation’s Unity ’24 “Power of the Ballot” National Campaign is non-partisan and has three priority goals: increasing Black voter turnout, highlighting important policy issues, and ensuring voters know their rights and how to protect their votes. The campaign also included activations such as Black Women’s Roundtable “Power of the Sister Vote Townhall” and door-to-door canvassing.

The momentum of the tour will continue as it travels to pivotal states hosting 2024 election primaries, including MI, GA, AL, PA, NC, VA, OH, FL, LA, MD, and MS. Throughout this election cycle, the NCBCP and its Unity ’24 partners will continue to build and expand its coalition membership to maximize the power of their collective and individual organizations’ efforts to increase and protect the Black vote.

The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation is dedicated to advocating for the rights and empowerment of Black communities, working to ensure equal representation, civic engagement, economic empowerment, and the protection of voting rights for all. Through various initiatives and programs, the organization strives to make a positive impact on Black communities nationwide.
