Golden Corral Franchise Owner Seeks Justice in Legal Battle
Sherrance Henderson, an African American mother of two autistic children, is gearing up for a legal showdown with Golden Corral Franchise Systems. Henderson, the owner of Cornucopia Queen, Inc (CQI) DBA Golden Corral, invested over $9.8 million to open a Golden Corral franchise in Poughkeepsie, New York. However, her license was abruptly terminated after just 52 days in business, leading to financial ruin.
Allegations of racial discrimination and financial devastation have been brought against Golden Corral Franchise Systems by Henderson, who has enlisted the help of a prominent Civil Rights firm, The Hamlin Firm. The firm has a track record of representing high-profile clients, including cases for Wendy Williams and Malcolm X’s family legacy.
The termination of Henderson’s license resulted in the foreclosure of her home and the closure of her business. She claims that she was not given the same opportunity to rectify minor infractions as other non-Black and male franchise owners. Henderson and her legal team are now seeking punitive damages for the loss of her life savings and the unjust closure of her business.
