Michelle Troconis convicted: Helping boyfriend hide Connecticut wife’s murder

Michelle Troconis has been found guilty on all counts in connection with the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos. Troconis was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with physical evidence, conspiracy to commit tampering with physical evidence, and hindering prosecution.

Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five, disappeared in May 2019 during a custody dispute with her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos. Fotis Dulos died by suicide in January 2020, weeks after being charged with Jennifer Dulos’ murder. Troconis was seen on surveillance footage with Fotis Dulos allegedly disposing of evidence in trash cans on the day Jennifer Dulos vanished.

During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence including blood spatter in the garage where Jennifer Dulos was believed to have been killed, as well as items like zip ties, sponges, and duct tape found in the trash. Prosecutors argued that Troconis and Fotis Dulos conspired to murder Jennifer Dulos together.

Defense attorney Jon Schoenhorn maintained that Troconis did not know about Fotis Dulos’ plans and was not involved in any crimes he may have committed. After the verdict, Troconis was granted house arrest, electronic monitoring, and had to surrender her passport. Her sentencing is scheduled for May 31.

The state’s attorney expressed hope that the verdict would bring some peace to Jennifer Dulos’ family and friends, while also emphasizing the ongoing effort to find Jennifer’s remains. Jennifer Dulos’ mother now has custody of the five Dulos children.

Fotis Dulos’ friend and former lawyer, Kent Mawhinney, is also accused of helping cover up the crime and is awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.

Despite the conviction, Troconis maintains her innocence, with her sister stating they are certain of her innocence. The case continues to raise attention around the unresolved disappearance of Jennifer Dulos.
