MemorialCare is proud to share the exciting news that Elizabeth “Liz” Acord, vice president of clinical integration for MemorialCare Cancer Institute, has been chosen as one of the “40 Under 40” by Modern Healthcare for 2024. This prestigious recognition honors young innovators and leaders in the healthcare industry for their contributions to enhancing financial, operational, and clinical outcomes within their organizations.
In her role as vice president of clinical integration at MemorialCare, Acord oversees the cancer program and clinical research initiatives across the entire system. Her extensive experience in building hospital departments and fostering collaboration has been instrumental in advancing MemorialCare’s mission and vision.
With Acord’s leadership, MemorialCare was able to expand several services aimed at improving the patient experience and providing innovative treatment options. These include the implementation of online risk questionnaires, pre-visit check-in tools, and strategic partnerships to leverage predictive analytics to streamline capacity and treatment planning.
Acord’s visionary leadership has also led to significant expansions, such as the acquisition of Radiation Oncology vaults, recruitment of skilled breast and plastic surgeons, as well as the integration of medical and gynecologic oncologists in multiple markets. She has also spearheaded the growth of several programs including nuclear medicine therapeutics, a cancer screening program, and lung cancer navigation, among others.
One of her notable accomplishments is the creation and implementation of the Adolescent and Young Adult Survivorship Program, which has bridged cancer survivorship care for young adults at MemorialCare. This program facilitates a seamless transition between the pediatric cancer program and the adult cancer program, providing patients with improved access to clinical trials and a better overall experience.
Recognizing the importance of MemorialCare’s commitment to reaching more patients with life-saving services, Acord is honored to accept this recognition from Modern Healthcare. She believes that bridging the gap between community settings and academic institutions is key to delivering exceptional care to those in need.
