Cody Kliethermes, a recent graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, had the opportunity of a lifetime when he was awarded a DocuLock franchise through a partnership with the university. After completing his bachelor’s degree in management information systems with a cybersecurity emphasis, Kliethermes became the proud owner of the franchise in O’Fallon, Missouri.
The partnership between DocuLock LLC and Northwest aims to offer entrepreneurial-minded students the chance to start their own business. As a non-traditional online student, Kliethermes initially thought his chances of receiving the franchise were slim. However, he impressed the interviewers with his experience as an active duty police officer for over a decade and was ultimately awarded the franchise.
With the assistance of the Small Business Development Center at Northwest, Kliethermes has been able to start his business without the burden of a franchise fee. He has already begun building his client base and is actively involved in the local community, including joining the chamber of commerce.
Paul Janicek, the CEO of DocuLock LLC, was excited to bring Kliethermes on board due to his background and expertise. The partnership between DocuLock and Northwest aims to educate and elevate individuals into entrepreneurial roles, providing them with the opportunity to grow their own business from the ground up.
Kliethermes, who also serves as a resource officer in the Wentzville School District, plans to continue working in law enforcement while running his franchise. He hopes that one day his business will be successful enough to support his family and allow him to retire from law enforcement.
