Huawei, Guangdong, and Zengcheng County Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau recently collaborated to host a Lychee Live Broadcast Festival in Zengcheng County, Guangzhou, with the theme “5G Boost for Lychees.” The event showcased influencers and live streamers using 5G technology to promote and sell local lychees. A 5.5G test network was also demonstrated, achieving impressive uplink speeds exceeding 500 Mbps, marking the first test of 5.5G technology in a live broadcast setting in rural China.
Chinese unicorn Guangdong introduced a cutting-edge 5G live broadcast service during the festival, providing ultra-high uplink bandwidth, large network capacity, and high-definition video streaming for live content creators. This innovative service has received recognition, winning the GSMA Global Mobile Awards for “Best Mobile Operator Service for Connected Consumers” at the MWC fair in Barcelona. Since its launch, the 5G live streaming service has gained popularity among over 300,000 users and has been utilized in various industries, including agriculture, tourism, apparel, and eSports.
Wang Liang, Deputy General Manager of China Unicorn Product Innovation Center Guangdong, emphasized the importance of utilizing advanced technologies like 5G slicing and dual-channel capabilities to enhance network services for live broadcasts. The introduction of 5.5G technology represents a significant advancement over 5G, offering increased downlink and uplink speeds, enabling seamless streaming of high-definition 3D content and personalized user experiences.
Hou Yingzhen, President of Huawei’s 5G Solutions Marketing and Sales Department, highlighted the company’s commitment to continuous innovation in product development to extend the benefits of 5G technology to a wider audience and support the commercial deployment of 5.5G.
