The successful 2024 open enrollment period showcased record-breaking numbers, proving just how accessible healthcare coverage is to individuals and families, thanks to state-based exchanges. In a press release, GetInsured, the leading provider of state-based health insurance exchange (SBE) technology platforms and associated consumer assistance centers, praised its state clients for their superb performance during the historically successful open enrollment period, wherein more than 21 million people signed up for coverage for the ACA plan year 2024. The record marks the third year that ACA enrollment has hit record levels.
The success of these enrollments is thanks in part to the ripples of policy adjustments in 2023, many of which were due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With findings from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the resolution of the “family glitch” expanding ineligibility to millions of family members, many more individuals, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds, accessed the enhanced tax credits and affordable coverage of the exchanges. These policy changes, combined with individual state marketing and outreach efforts, led each of GetInsured’s client states to announce an increase in enrollment over the previous year.
For instance, Your Health Idaho, Idaho’s health insurance marketplace, recently transitioned to a modern real-time eligibility system. This system delivers tax credit results in seconds and includes strong integration with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, which helped increase enrollments by 31%. Similar successes were seen in nearly every other state, with Georgia Access experiencing a 33% increase in their enrollment from the previous year. Meanwhile, Nevada Health Link, Pennsylvania’s Penny®, Washington Health Benefit Exchange, Get Covered New Jersey, and Minnesota’s MNsure all experienced impressive growth in their respective enrollments as well.
“We are proud to have had our technology play a part in providing peace of mind to individuals and families across the country,” said Chini Krishnan, Founder and CEO at GetInsured. “We remain focused on our mission of making affordable healthcare accessible to all, contributing to the overall well-being of our clients and communities.” The high level of satisfaction consumers and clients experienced through SBE centers suggest that GetInsured is well on its way to achieving that mission.
As the healthcare landscape evolves and changes according to policy amendments, GetInsured and its Consumer Assistance Center are ready to step up to meet the needs of its clients and consumers. Despite continued changes, the platform can support various states’ health insurance exchanges and handle consumer assistance in a way that is both seamless and essential, making it a leading technology provider for state-based health insurance exchanges.
