The Center for Trusted Internet and Community (CTIC) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) has recently launched a pioneering initiative called “Living Well Digitally.” In collaboration with the DQ Institute and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), this initiative aims to equip individuals worldwide with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of the digital world, promoting a balanced and informed digital lifestyle.
The core components of the “Living Well Digitally” initiative include the Digital Wellbeing Indicator Framework (DWIF), a tool for assessing digital wellbeing, and a wealth of resources available to the community. The DWIF, based on international IEEE DQ standards, assesses digital wellbeing across five key areas and integrates the concept of digital citizenship. The Powered by DQ Digital Wellbeing Assessment Tool allows individuals to evaluate their digital wellbeing and receive personalized feedback instantly. The Living Well Digitally website serves as a platform offering educational resources for various audiences at no cost.
Developed by a team of researchers from NUS-CTIC and other institutions, the DWIF underwent extensive research, validation, and testing before its public launch. The initiative was endorsed by stakeholders from government ministries, social service agencies, and technology companies during an official launch event at NUS.
Professor Audrey Yue, Principal Investigator of the project, emphasized the importance of prioritizing digital wellbeing in today’s digital landscape. Ms. Rahayu Mahzam, Principal Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Justice, highlighted the necessity of conscious technology use for individuals from all backgrounds. The research team also introduced the “Powered by DQ” label, ensuring credibility and impact based on global standards.
Dr. Yuhyun Park, Founder of the DQ Institute, expressed the Institute’s commitment to improving digital wellbeing amid technological advancements. The NUS-CTIC initiative aims to equip communities with the tools needed to navigate risks and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence and foster a balanced approach to digital wellbeing.
The CTIC at NUS is dedicated to researching the impact of the internet on society and integrating various disciplines to analyze its implications. For more information about the initiative and the CTIC, visit their website. For media inquiries, please contact the relevant team members.
