The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has responded to a hotel surveillance video from 2016 that appears to show Sean “Diddy” Combs attacking Cassie Ventura. Despite finding the images disturbing, they are unable to charge Diddy due to the incident occurring outside the statute of limitations for assault charges. The DA’s office encourages anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
The video released matches Ventura’s description of a physical altercation she detailed in a now-settled lawsuit against Diddy. In the footage, Combs is seen aggressively grabbing and dragging Ventura before kicking her and dragging her back to a hotel room. The Los Angeles DA’s office encourages victims or witnesses of crimes to report to law enforcement or reach out to their office.
If you or someone you know is a victim of intimate partner violence and needs help, you can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 or text “START” to 88788. The incident involving Diddy and Ventura has raised concerns and brought attention to the issue of domestic violence. The DA’s office, while unable to charge Diddy, acknowledges the seriousness of the situation and the importance of speaking out against violence.
