Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me 4 has taken the box office by storm, raking in $75 million over the holiday weekend for a total of $122.6 million so far. The film’s success is no surprise, as it continues the beloved franchise’s winning streak.
Pixar’s Inside Out 2 continues to impress with $33 million in box office earnings this weekend, bringing its total domestic gross to an incredible $536 million. A Quiet Place: Day One also performed well, bringing in $21 million despite a 60% decline from last weekend.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die is still going strong at the summer box office, making over $6 million for a total of $177 million. Will Smith’s star power remains a force to be reckoned with post-Oscar controversy, as the film is poised to become the second biggest Bad Boys movie ever.
On the flip side, Kevin Costner’s Horizon: Chapter One is struggling to find its footing, with a projected total of $35 million after a lackluster opening. The Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot and Kalki 2898 AD, on the other hand, are gaining momentum with solid box office numbers.
As for smaller releases, MaXXXine impressed with a $6.7 million gross, while The Bikeriders and Kinds of Kindness faced challenges at the box office.
Looking ahead, the Channing Tatum/Scarlett Johansson comedy Fly Me to the Moon and the horror flick Longlegs are set for release next weekend. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest box office hits and misses.
