Della Christine Watson, a dedicated educator from Paducah, Texas, has garnered the prestigious title of Professional of the Year for 2023 from Strathmore’s Who’s Who Worldwide Edition. This recognition celebrates her exceptional contributions and accomplishments within the field of education.
With a wealth of experience spanning over 17 years, Della Christine Watson currently serves as a teacher at Paducah ISD, where she imparts her knowledge to students across a range of subjects. Notably, she teaches band to grades 6-12, English to grades 6-8, and music to grades K-5. In addition, Watson specializes in teaching students with dyslexia and holds the role of a dyslexia specialist. Her dedication extends to serving as the 504, Dyslexia, and Title III District Coordinator, as well as fulfilling responsibilities as a class and UIL sponsor.
Prior to her current role, Watson has held positions such as the English department head at Petrolia CISD, an English/ESL teacher at San Felipe Del Rio CISD, a music teacher at Highland Elementary School at Tulia ISD, and the choir director/assistant band director and long-term substitute at Tulia Junior High/Tulia High School at Tulia ISD.
In recognition of her outstanding work, Della Watson has been honored with several awards, including the Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award, Texas in 2021, as well as the Petrolia Most Helpful Teacher Award and the Petrolia Pirate Teacher of the Month. Her dedication to her profession is further exemplified through her membership in the Golden Key Society and the Association of Texas Professional Educators.
Della Christine Watson’s academic journey began at West Texas State University, where she earned her B.M. in 1990, followed by her M.E. from West Texas A&M University in 1994. Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at West Texas A&M University.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Della finds joy in playing musical instruments and engaging in counted cross-stitch in her leisure time.
