Dehua, located in Fujian province, has been producing porcelain for over 3,700 years. The region’s white porcelain was highly sought after during the Song and Yuan Dynasties, earning the moniker “Blanc de CHINE (White from China)” in the Ming Dynasty. With a booming ceramic industry valued at 57.7 billion yuan and over 4,000 ceramic enterprises, Dehua remains a key player in the global porcelain market.
Fang Junqin, the head of Dehua County, believes that ceramics serve as a gateway for Chinese culture to reach international audiences. Through initiatives like the “BLANC de CHINE – Porcelain from Dehua” exhibition, Dehua aims to expand its global presence and foster collaborations with foreign partners. The event is organized by the Fujian Museum, the United Association of American Fujianese, and the Dehua Ceramic Trade Association, supported by the North American Economic Herald Media Group.
This exhibition marks the second stop on a five-year international tour by Dehua porcelain producers, with plans to visit over 20 countries and regions. The inaugural leg took place in Frankfurt, Germany, last August, receiving widespread acclaim and appreciation.
