Slim Chickens, a popular fast-casual restaurant franchise based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is expanding its footprint to Northeast Florida with plans to open its first Jacksonville location at 4955 Sweetgrass Place. The new restaurant will feature a drive-thru and patio on 1.1 acres in Glen Kernan Park.
The project, estimated to cost $1.1 million, will be developed by franchise owners Angelo and Kimberly Crowell through Kalo Holdings LLC. The restaurant will offer a menu of made-to-order chicken wings and tenders, chicken sandwiches, wraps, salads, fries, and more. Slim Chickens is known for its high-quality food and signature housemade dipping sauces.
The Jacksonville location will mark Slim Chickens’ first foray into Northeast Florida, with plans for additional stores in the area. The franchise, founded in 2003, currently operates over 200 units across 34 states, with international locations in the United Kingdom and other countries.
Construction of the new Slim Chickens restaurant is being overseen by Harrison French and Associates Ltd., with Maverick Engineering serving as the agent and civil engineer for the project. The city of Jacksonville issued a mobility fee calculation certificate for the development, highlighting the franchise’s commitment to mitigating traffic impact in the area.
In addition to Slim Chickens, Glen Kernan Park is set to be a vibrant mixed-use development featuring residential and commercial projects. Retail offerings at the park include a Gate Petroleum Co. convenience store, Culver’s restaurant, Embassy Suites hotel, Dunkin’ coffee shop, and Olive Garden Italian Kitchen.
Rise: A Real Estate Company is leading the residential development at Glen Kernan Park, with plans for a master-planned community catering to residents ages 55 and older. The community will feature private cottages, apartments, and a variety of amenities such as a clubhouse, fitness center, dog park, and outdoor recreational areas.
