Columbus Mayor Elected President of U.S. Mayors Conference, New Policy Agenda Set

The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) recently concluded its 92nd Annual Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri, where a new leadership team was elected. Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther was chosen as the next President of the organization, emphasizing the importance of bipartisanship and collaborative problem solving. Mayor Ginther’s goal is to address significant issues like housing and public safety with the united voice of mayors across the country.

Joining Mayor Ginther in the leadership team are Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt as USCM’s First Vice President and San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria as the Second Vice President. The organization also welcomed new Trustees and Advisory Board Members, expanding the Executive Committee.

The Annual Meeting involved the consideration and adoption of policy resolutions on various priorities for American mayors. Some of the key issues addressed in the resolutions include combating gun violence, improving mental health services, and enhancing cities’ affordability and quality of life. Additionally, policies on climate change, energy, housing, transportation, and the economy were discussed and adopted during the meeting.

Looking ahead, Long Beach, CA, is set to host the 2026 Annual Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, while Providence, RI, will host the 2027 Annual Meeting. Next year’s meeting is scheduled to take place in Tampa, Florida.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization representing cities with populations of 30,000 or more across the United States. With over 1,400 member cities, the organization provides a platform for mayors to come together, share ideas, and advocate for policies that benefit their communities.
