Cloudera Enhances Metadata Management with Data Catalog Integration

Cloudera, the leading hybrid platform for data, analytics, and AI, has recently introduced updates that focus on enhancing open interoperability while also addressing the growing demands for data security and governance. These updates are set to be showcased during EVOLVE24 in Singapore on August 6-7.

The platform enhancements include new Iceberg REST Catalog integration, which enables seamless access to Apache Iceberg tables using third-party engines. This feature allows users to leverage various tools while ensuring unified security and governance. It simplifies data access, maintains data permissions and lineage across platforms, and reduces the risk of data breaches.

Additionally, Cloudera’s Shared Data Experience (SDX) is now in technical preview as a cloud-native, containerized experience that provides unified data security, governance, and metadata management. This feature is designed for greater elasticity, scale, and performance, offering self-service data access across tools and consolidating security functions to minimize breach risks.

By optimizing metadata management and facilitating metadata sharing without creating copies, Cloudera’s updates aim to improve performance, scalability, and resiliency while reducing total cost of ownership. This expansion enables innovation with third-party tools without vendor lock-in, providing enterprises with increased flexibility and efficiency in managing their data assets.

Industry analyst Sanjeev Mohan emphasizes the importance of a unified approach to data access and governance across various data assets and locations. Cloudera’s commitment to open interoperability and adherence to open standards ensures seamless integration and interoperability across any ecosystem, allowing enterprises to leverage their AI investments effectively.

Attendees at Cloudera’s EVOLVE24 Singapore event will have the opportunity to explore these updates firsthand, speak with experts on-site, and learn more about how Cloudera’s platform can enhance analytics and AI capabilities for businesses. This event, taking place at the Sands Expo & Convention Center on August 6-7, will showcase Cloudera’s dedication to providing a true hybrid open data lakehouse for enterprises.
