The 76th Annual DGA Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills where the winners in 10 other categories were announced along with the winner of the Cadillac sponsored award. Christopher Nolan took home the prestigious DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film for “Oppenheimer” by Universal Pictures.
Judd Apatow was the host of the ceremony and presenters included a star-studded lineup of Hollywood talent such as Matt Bomer, Rose Byrne, Zooey Deschanel, Ryan Gosling, Patty Jenkins, and Emma Stone, to name a few. Awards were also presented to directors David Nutter, Janet Knutsen, and Gary Natoli for their exceptional achievements in television direction.
The winners in other categories include Michael Apted for Outstanding Directorial Achievement of a First-Time Theatrical Feature Film Director for “Past Lives” by A24, Peter Hoar for “The Last of Us: Long, Long Time” by HBO | MAX, and Michael Mancini and Liz Patrick for “Peter Pascal/Coldplay” by NBC in the category of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Variety/Talk/News/Sports – Regularly Scheduled Programming for 2023.
In the category of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials, Kim Gehrig from somesuch took home the award, and Mistislav Chernov’s work on “20 Days in Mariupol” by PBS Distribution earned the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary for 2023.
