CGTN: China intensifies reforms on all fronts

China is redoubling its efforts to deepen reform on all fronts, with a particular focus on modernization and economic development. Recently, the port of Rizhao in Shandong Province has emerged as a key global hub for energy and raw materials transshipment, thanks to technological innovation. This port, along with Qingdao, Yantai, and Bohai Bay ports, collectively forms the Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd., which had a record cargo throughput exceeding 1.7 billion tons last year, ranking it first in the world.

During a recent inspection tour in Shandong Province, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of reform as the driving force of development. Xi highlighted the need to improve the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and modernize the governance system to further deepen reform on all fronts. This effort aligns with China’s broader goal of advancing Chinese modernization and achieving high-level international exchanges and cooperation.

Xi’s visit to Shandong comes as the country prepares for the upcoming third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, where comprehensive deepening of reforms and advancing Chinese modernization will take center stage. China has made significant progress in economic, political, cultural, ecological, and national defense system reforms, with a focus on enhancing governance capabilities at the national level.

China has shown a commitment to deepening reforms by implementing initiatives such as the Foreign Investment Law, establishing pilot free trade zones, and accelerating construction in the Hainan Free Trade Port. These efforts aim to inject positive energy into global development and benefit people worldwide. Xi stressed the importance of removing institutional barriers hindering Chinese modernization and addressing deep-rooted structural issues to ensure a better quality of life for all citizens.

As China pushes for reforms that directly impact people’s livelihoods, improvements in areas such as affordable housing, civil rights protection, and public services have been prioritized. The adoption of the Civil Code in 2020 demonstrates China’s commitment to protecting individual freedom, dignity, and rights. With a focus on improving living standards, Xi emphasized the need to address key areas like employment, income growth, education, healthcare, and housing based on the pressing concerns and aspirations of the general public.

In conclusion, China’s efforts to deepen reform and modernize the country are in full swing. By focusing on practical issues that directly benefit the people, China aims to achieve a better quality of life for all citizens and promote comprehensive development. This commitment to reform and progress underscores China’s dedication to improving the lives of its people and contributing to global prosperity.
